Gubbins from this year’s Manchester International Festival, some Rock Sound stuff and Ben and Jerry’s in the (hopefully sunny!) Park.
In other news, I went to the Tate Modern recently. It’s one of those places that helps take your mind of other things that you can’t get your head around, by making you concentrate on other stuff that you can’t work out either.
I didn’t ‘get’ most of what I saw, but some of it I liked, without knowing why. This is an example of something that fell into both categories – possibly because a decent string of words happened to flow by, just as I took the shot.

Geek stuff: taken with iPhone 3GS, processed in the Instagram app, with tilt-shift effect and Hefe filter.
Like most people, I like good weather over a bank holiday weekend, so this one was a good ‘un. The weekend started with a trip into Oldham on Thursday night, which naturally came free with a hangover on Friday. This was mostly cleared by a walk up in the hills with my mate’s dog, Bleu.

The good weather continued until Sunday, when I got on the bike and had a ride down by the river up to Chorlton Water Park. Quite a few other people had had the same idea, too. This place is great when it’s sunny, but pretty grim when it’s dull.

This would have been much better if the apostrophe hadn’t been missed, but I suppose if you’re careless enough to have set yourself on fire for what doesn’t seem like the first time, you might be in a bit of a hurry to finish your latest graffito.

Obviously, it could also be that this was a particularly sunny day and that the artist was merely in need of some skin protection from a passer by.
Yeah. It’s pretty nice.

Here’s another 3GS shot – this time taken underneath the M60 on the way out to Carrington. I’m sure it means something important.

If you’ve got an iPhone 3/3GS, you’ll no doubt know how truly awful its camera is. Anyways, walking down the road on the way for some Chinese food at the weekend, the sun was creating some great shadows, so I thought I’d grab a shot and see what I could do with it using the free Photoshop Express app.
Here’s the before……………………………………………………….and the after.

Exposure > Saturation > Contrast > Border > Done!
This is on the same stretch of road and always makes me smile whenever I walk past it. I think there used to be a bin there or something:

I think iPhone photos work best when you stop trying to make them look like the real thing and instead, process the life into them.
What a weekend. After QOTSA and Axl’s hissy fit in response to the crowd’s understandable reaction to him being a cock, Saturday and Sunday were awesome.
Battery power was limited, but I grabbed shots of NOFX’s secret show in the Lock Up and the sunset on Saturday.
Today, Cypress Hill took things back to the 90s before Weezer made my weekend with what was one of the festival performances I have ever seen*, involving the following:
A trampoline
A sex doll (female)
Mud
A bear hat
A Lady Gaga wig
Wheatus and MGMT covers
I don’t need to see anyone else now before this thing is finished (though I might watch a bit of Paramore and Blink 182).
* also one of the best shows, full stop. I’ve waited 15 years for this!

Pre-season friendly at OT. Owen makes his first home appearance. 0-0 at the moment…

Well, they made it. Blur went on stage a little late after Graham Coxon was hospitalised with food poisoning, but they didn’t disappoint. I watched The Universal from the side of the pit.
