I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Yes, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, the stuff of legend and an often associated sense of having over-indulgence was the order of the weekend of 25th and 26th of July, which saw the return of the annual Ben & Jerry’s Sundae on the Common in Clapham. I was there to make sure that stocks of the good stuff were running low by day 2 (and to take a few photographs of the weekend for Ben & Jerry’s).
Super Furry Animals closed out Saturday night, on a day of sunshine and frozen goodness – sometimes, the simplest of props are the most effective – amongst Gruff Rhys’ collection of cardboard cues for the audience were: ‘75%’ – for a medium response; ‘WOAH!’ – for full on cheers; ‘APPLAUSE’ – fairly self-explanatory; and ‘THE END’ – even more obvious!

Shot this lot (Ted Maul/The Red Chord) at Moho Live last month for Rock Sound – plenty of action, but nowhere near enough light to make the shots look anything other than flat and uninteresting. Bummer.

Well, they made it. Blur went on stage a little late after Graham Coxon was hospitalised with food poisoning, but they didn’t disappoint. I watched The Universal from the side of the pit.
Doves on the NME Stage. Somehow doesn’t work outdoors. Needed lasers and stuff.
Pics are up of NIN’s NME Stage closer from last night. Steam was pouring off Trent Reznor’s back, which made for some nice shots. The strobe lights didn’t help so much, though and I practically had to feel my way out of the pit when I was done.
